From: Lawrence Krauss To: [email protected] Subject: Fwd: Rescheduling Lawrence Krauss's meeting Tuesday Date: Tue, 10 Apr 2018 02:22:55 +0000 FYI. Got this at 540 pm today. Note that I never postponed the meeting! Don't know why she says that. Lawrence M. Erin Ellison Subject: RE: Rescheduling Lawrence Krauss's meeting Tuesday Mr. Dillon: We will postpone Dr. Krauss' meeting with the Office of Equity and Inclusion (OEI) by one week. He must be available to meet on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 (9:30 AM — 12:30 PM) or Thursday, April 19, 2018 (9:30 AM - 12:30 PM). Let me know which day works best. Please note that we already postponed this meeting once before at Dr. Krauss' request. We will not postpone the meeting a third time. Please be advised that there is no right for an employee to be represented by an attorney during an interview of this nature. However, OEI has agreed to permit Dr. Krauss to have a "support person" present. The support person has no participatory role during the interview. If the support person cannot abide by that condition, the person will be required to exit the interview and wait in the reception area. Regards, Erin R. Ellison, ID. The meeting is indeed canceled, and I am afraid I will not budge on that, so you should plan accordingly. I wanted to let you know that today in order to minimize the inconvenience to you. But I'm happy to work with you on another date later this month. It would be great if we could avoid getting off on an unnecessarily adversarial foot, and I am trying to be polite while still making our position clear. You cannot, consistent with either your own policies or the due process clause, force Professor Krauss to have a meeting that he is not prepared to have. Rather than arguing about that over email and inevitably escalating this to the General Counsel's office, I think our time would better spent finding a new date later this month once I've had a chance to get up to speed. This is not a "no," by any means. It is simply a "not yet." Thanks, and have a nice weekend. At this point, OEI does not consider the appointment to be cancelled. I will provide a further response on Monday. EFTA00839400 Thank you, Carla Carla Mahnke, Ed.D. Professor Krauss has hired me to serve as his advisor in this case. I understand from him that you all have a meeting scheduled for Tuesday during which you are going to ask him about some of the allegations in the case. I am afraid we are going to need to reschedule that for a later date, so that I have time to get up to speed on the case and properly prepare Professor Krauss for this meeting. (I have been out of town all week for my kids' spring break.) I am sorry for any inconvenience, and I will be in touch soon to find a new date. Thanks very much, and have a nice weekend.
