From: To: "Jeffrey E." <[email protected]> Subject: Re: Date: Thu, 05 Apr 2018 13:21:35 +0000 Current situation, where I am with real paying jobs and plan moving forward: Currently: essentially "contract work" with . They pay me an hourly rate for my cad plans but with current demand I don't make much. In addition they get me 3 days a week as a free internship. In addition, the Marketing Manager for USA is going on maternity leave and she has only been handing her things off to me. My work is not intern work, I am the only one in the company in North America who uses CAD and one of two that can use the back end of our trade website, and create our product tearsheets in indesign(The other of which is leaving for 3 months). So this cant continue unpaid. have recently introduced interior designers into their stores to provide a full design service for their clients. Their recruitment manager is very interested in me to fill the position of gallery designer in their East Hampton store. I have had two telephone interviews and met her in person. The next step is to meet the gallery manager at the location. I stated my salary requirement as 60k and she said she would also discuss a relocation package for me once we get further along. The issue I am coming across is the international aspect. Every job on our job board says "No international applicants". I spoke to Arda to get a good answer for them. He said they don't want to bother with H1B's because there are minimum salary requirements and for these jobs and junior designers salaries seem to be as low as 40k. Companies hiring that I have enquired at (telephonically) say they don't want to train someone and lose them due to the H1B being a lottery process. Arda did say that because I have held one before, I may be cap exempt, he is going to look into it. So I am applying regardless of their statements (to the American companies that worst case scenario have offices in London). I met with someone from Meyer Davis so long, and we had a nice talk and he said that my is extremely sophisticated for someone so fresh out of school. I have recruitment agencies reaching out through linkedin since I added my expoerience so I have more leads with that.
