Although they set up the appointment for an initial consult, when the receptionist called and told me she was about to put me on with the lawyer and her partner, she said, "How do you want to pay for the $250 consult fee?". Having sent me 3 emails to set up the appointment and having had 1 phone conversation with Nancy to begin with to get an email address, it would have been somewhat professional for them to mention that fee in advance.. plus it does seem irregular, since normally a consult, to see if they want to take the case, and if one wants them to take it, isn't charged.. Anyway, if it is, it isn't something they should spring on you when you are on the phone about to talk to the lawyer.. so maybe we will go back and talk to her, but given that her office is near the airport where the strip joints are, I figure she is used to representing poor immigrant students who can pay for a couple of hours of her time..
