I went with the top decorative molding, three times, just to make sure the pigment in the wax will be sufficient not to fade but stay at the same intensity for good. I worked on the details of the columns as they required more attention. Tomorrow, I will look over if there is anything more to do. Virtually touch ups here and there. I also promised to finish the Globes, which I will do tomorrow morning. Initially, Mr. Epstein asked me to finish the Globe bases and match them to the floor color which I did, but than changed his mind and asked me to finish them to bleached waterlogged wood, which I have done. They are finished as well. So after tomorrow, I will have nothing to do. I would like to go home and if Mr. Epstein wants me to come back and work some more I can do this as he is on the Island. This would assured that all the works are done according to his taste. Please, arrange for me to fly to NY this Saturday. Thank you Richard, Brandon On Thu, Jun 4, 2015 at 12:43 PM, Richard Kahn thanks for email i forwarded to mr epstein but no feedback yet.. The hard work was done long time ago, when I came with Bart and we worked on the oak grain. > You see, when the oak grain is "closed" the wood looks like plastic more than wood. You have to open the grain by using the steel brush. Oak is very hard wood and the only way to open the grain is with steel wire brush, than it will come alive. This week, all I have to do is apply the topical finish, which does not take much time. The preparation takes time. I am working on the horizontal surfaces and cabinet doors now and I will finish them tomorrow. I will check everything and Friday I will do the touch ups. If Mr. Epstein will request another set of pictures, I will be glad to take it again. > Just for your information, in the US, we are using four major types of Oak wood: 1. rift oak, the very best straight and elegant grain. 2. Quarter-saw, second best. 3. White oak and 4. red oak. > Brandon > PS. Mr. Epstein requested that I will finish the Globe bases.
