Boris has decided to leave the Foundation and bgC3. Amongst other things, he was tasked by me with the
difficult job of finding unique opportunities and making investments in early stage-companies doing
breakthrough work in life sciences and technology. Boris has demonstrated a remarkable talent for finding
just those types of undervalued companies; however, our business structure doesn't really allow enough time
for Boris to devote 100% of this unique skill to this endeavor. As such, just recently, we have been
discussing the unfortunate possibility of his eventual transition to the for profit world.
His employment over the past 6 years with the Foundation and moreover for the past 3 of those working
every day directly with me, Boris made a stellar job and has achieved many very significant contributions to
our success. Without any hesitation, Boris is one of the smartest and hardest working people I have ever
worked with. His deep technical expertise within multiple areas, his great judgment and ability to deal with
high uncertainty situations, coupled with an extraordinary array of diverse friendship and partnerships has
made him virtually irreplaceable. Nevertheless, with our programs well established and working so well
Boris has decided the time is ripe to move on. Although I am extremely sad to see him go, he does so with my
full support confidence and continued friendship.
Boris has graciously agreed to continue working on projects with us all through the end of the year to ensure
a successful transition.
Bill.
I hereby tender my resignation as of Jan 1 2014. It is with mixed emotions that I do so, but the time has come
for me to move to the for profit world.
