Date: Thu, 18 Aug 2011 06:12:17 +0000 Attachments: DolphinEffectOnHumanAffect Greetings All, Last January's get-together started me thinking about Dolphins again, and particularly about the the effect Dolphins have on human emotions. To make a long story short: I'm conducting experiments at the Dolphin Research Center (DRC) on human sympathetic nervous system response during dockside interaction with Dolphin. The trials will begin tomorrow (Thurs., August 18, 2011) morning, and will continue for two days. We are using a portable logging polygraph developed by the MIT Media Lab Cognitive Computing group and their commercial spin-off Affectiva to monitor visceral human responses during structured (ie repeatable) interactions with dolphins. If any of you are in the area and/or curious about this very early stage research, please feel free to visit us at DRC (on Grassy Key, FL) to see for yourselves. This invitation is particularly apt (IMHO), since I only began seriously considering starting this work after (during? :-) our meeting in the Virgin Islands, and some conversations with several of you (you know who your are :-) provided the impetus to get me going on this project. Also, inspired by Jeffrey's philanthropy, this is the first research project which I've self-financed myself (albeit on a much smaller scale than Jeffrey's :-). Any and all last-minute advice and/or constructive criticism is welcome and appreciated. All the best to y'all in all your endeavors. --Ron EFTA00917652 PPS: A brief description of the project is attached. EFTA00917653
