From: "Morris, Paul V" To: "Richard Kahn ( )" < <jeevacationggmail.com> Subject: FW: New rules for family offices under Dodd-Frank Date: Wed, 04 Jan 2012 14:40:32 +0000 Attachments: IYI_2011_Family_Office.pdf; Call_invitation_12.29.11.pdf , Jeffrey Epstein Rich, Happy New Year! Perhaps you're interested in listening to the call. See attached paper and call invite. Speak soon. Best, Family offices based in the U.S. and even those headquartered elsewhere but counting U.S. taxpayers among their "clients" all must answer this question: "Do we now have to register with the Securities and Exchange Commission as an investment advisor under the new rules imposed by the Dodd-Frank legislation?" This is a matter you might want to discuss immediately with your legal advisors, as family offices that do not comply with the new exemption may need to meet a March 30 deadline for SEC registration. The attached In Your Interest will help you understand which family offices are impacted and how you might qualify for the new exemption so that you do not have to register. Also attached is an invitation for a webcast and conference call that will explore these topics plus options to consider if a family office does not qualify for the new exemption. This call will be moderated by Thomas McGraw of the J.P. Morgan Advice Lab and the panel will feature three prominent U.S. attorneys: Miles Padgett and John P.C. Duncan of Kozusko Harris Duncan; and, from the law firm of Davis Polk & Wardwell, both Jeffrey Schwartz and Leor Landa. Details for the call are also included below. Please let me know if I can be of any assistance to you and your legal advisors in this matter.
