Mort,
I am happy to come by today for the coffee that you suggested we have. As I stated yesterday, I have given
Chris the first set of bad numbers bad numbers contained in the performance report, most troubling is the crut
amount , listed as an investment asset. Chris said it was a " legacy " number. As I mentioned I believe there is a
way for my fees to be deductible. reducing the true out of pocket to an amount that does not require pepto bismol
for you to swallow.
I am seeing Joel Klein tomorrow , and with you consent would like to raise some of these issues. I think that
your friends at Goldman can play a role, but only a limited one. they should guide you on the investments ( with
very strict oversight). the investments are a small portion of the mess. reporting is an even smaller one
I have included a contract that has two payments the first of 22 million and the second of 8. I am happy to
explain any details , you can take some comfort that this agreeement is the same approved by paul weiss and alan
halperin for another client , but i added a provision that returns your fee if i die , as this is really personal to me
and you.
I am leaving tomororw and have to decide on taking on either you or another difficult situation. but, I can't do
both. so if you want to move forward you will have to make a decision today , if not I will return all redacted
documents to you asap ,as you already know I only wish you well.
