Those intellectuals....Kent Jones, the artistic director of the festival is an idiot. Why show a wordy depressing film on a "party" night. Simon went home. I did go to the after party to tell the director and Bryan Cranston how brilliant they are. That's all they want to be told anyway. As soon as the apartment walls are up and the moldings are done and the new bathroom and kitchen...and new fireplace are in...you MUST come for a viewing and I can show you all the fabrics and photos of the furniture....3 weeks. It's going to be a bit like a Paris apartment...NOT modern beige, like a hotel room...but fabulous euro interesting. Like a jewel. It's not really big enough for this of-so-chic attention...but I travel so much...it's really a pied a tier. If I get hit by a truck tomorrow, Mattie can sell it in a second. What I really need is a ballroom and a bedroom...if this renovation is great, I might flip this and look for the ballroom. But...my maintenance is so low, it's practically free....which gives me the ability to travel anyplace anytime. My friend is a very smart British director Simon Curtis, who just did "Goodbye Christopher Robbins" about the writing of "Winnie the Pooh". Film just opened in London to great reviews. It will not do as well here...it's very sweet. His past films are "Women in Gold" about Nazi stolen Klempts that now hang in Ronald Lauder's museum on Fifth and "My Week with Marilyn" about Monroe filming in England. He is married to Elizabeth McGovern, semi-talented and very nice. See the Churchill film, "The Darkest Hour" with Gary Oldman playing Winston. He will win the Oscar. Also "Call Me By Your Name". "Lady Bird", "Three Billboards", "I,Tonya", "The Shape of Water"....will send more. These titles are all great. I am going to Amalia and Adam Lindemann's for dinner tomorrow night. Spending the weekend at the film festival and have screenings we are giving all next week. Also giving a dinner Tues, Oct. 3rd for Lord and Lady Astor at La Grenouille for 10 swells. xoxo Peggy From: Jeffrey E.
