The other tractor on the island - the 2012 JD 5101E tractor - was purchased from Brent Hogan Equipment in 2012. Rick in Sales (Everglades Farm Equipment) was very helpful. In summary: I. Both the 5100E and the 5101E tractors will pull 16,000 pounds, but that is really about the maximum load. He would not recommend trying to pull that weight on the road, but in the field the operator would have to be cognizant of stopping - they would want to slowly come to a halt versus suddenly stopping, because the water wagon can push the tractor forward if the wagon does not have a brake system on it - I will confirm with Tap if the water wagon has a good brake system. 2. Both tractors have 4x4 capability - that is standard on these models. EFTA01009673 3. A good upgrade, per Rick, is the 6105E. The towing capacity is about 20,000 pounds - so it would definitely handle the water wagon with ease. Again, 4x4 is standard on this model. I asked Rick to send me a quote for a new JD 6105E utility tractor.
