It is a sediment (iron and dirt) film on the stone. We took an all brown stone and acid washed it with a wire brush and it cleans up very nice. He is confident it will all blend seamlessly. Here are before and Afters of a 20 second acid wash on the brown color blue bitch stone. He said when he acid washes the new stones he will do multiple acid washes to get the correct shades.
