The two single owner collections that were to be sold alongside the April Collector sale which were the reason for offering the bureau plat have been put on hold indefinitely as the real estate has not sold. Without this crucial critical mass of French furniture here in New York to attract the international clients that would be interested in the bureau plat, it is going to be very difficult to sell it in April. After discussing this with my colleague Will Strafford, the senior international specialist here in New York, we would like to move it to the October Collector auction which should feature comparable works. I realize that this may seem like a long time away but the bureau plat is a great object with a fantastic provenance and it deserves the very best possible chance. Please let me know if this meets with Mr. Epstein's approval. In the meantime, I will also reach out to my international furniture colleagues to see if they know of any other potential opportunities.
