From: MARK TRAMO To: Jeffrey Epstein <[email protected]> Subject: To JEE Date: Tue, 02 Apr 2019 17:08:19 +0000 Had a blast with Robert last week, and Spring Quarter starting now - have to tell you that —150 UCLA undergrads signed up for my two Music Mind & Brain seminars this year (having to turn some away), and now the NSci & Music programs have asked me to propose a General Elective course that enrolls hundreds of majors/minors from all depts one term per yr. All this 30+ years after my 1980s Neurology professors and colleagues told me I was nuts to suggest a research program on the cognitive neuroscience of music when none existed. It took you and some NSci hall-of-fame believers - Hubel, the Gaz,Kiang - and a Harvard Provost's Award for Educational Innovation from Harvey Fineberg to nurture the maverick, feed the beast, and make it happen. Heartfelt thanks, as always, for supporting The Institute and me all these yearsxxx Mark Jude Tramo, MD PhD Dept of Integrative Biology & Physiology, UCLA College of Letters & Science Dept of Neurology, David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA Dept of Musicology, UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music Director, The Institute for Music & Brain Science Co-Director, University of California Multi-Campus Music Research Initiative (UC MERCI) http://www.BrainMusic.org http://merci.ucsd.edu EFTA01034530
