Once we have that information, we can determine how we are going to deal with the perimeter of the pavilion. Judging from the existing topo. that was done before the present pool was built, it looks like there will be a more than 15 feet drop from the floor level of the pavilion to the existing grade. This is as a result of elevating the pavilion almost 2.5 feet to match the elevation of the existing house as well as the enclosure of the middle section to create a Great Room. As a result of that, we have to increase the area on the pool side because of the steps, making the building wider. The perimeter stone wall is an attempt to create a plateau for the building to sit on. Other options we can consider looking at could be shortening the middle portion of the pavilion by 10 to 14 feet, and relocating the bathroom to the western side, flanking the existing guest cottage. These changes could significantly reduce the height of the structure on the perimeter. Another idea to consider is with that much of a grade drop, we could consider putting the movie theater underneath the pavilion. The topo. Information will help us to better plan that. We are also working on a rendering of the screen wall on the western side of the pool that we will transmit tomorrow.
