Jeffrey Epstein, Science Philanthropists Agrees
with Continuing Large Hadron Collider
Research
The director of the European Organization for Nuclear Research told
that
the experiments at the Large Hadron Collider will continue for at least two more decades.
Jay Epstein, a prominent science philanthropist who founded the Program for Evolutionary
Dynamics at Harvard and with an educational background in physics, was excited by the news.
Rolf Heuer, the director general of the European Organization for Nuclear Research, told
that the Large Hadron Collider's work won't be finished for at least
another two decades.
The standard model of physics describes less than five percent of all matter and energy in the
world, leaving the vast majority of it to still be discovered. There's been much excitement
around the Large Hadron Collider the past couple of months after the European Organization for
Nuclear Research announced it found a particle similar to the elusive Higgs Boson.
The Higgs Boson is believed to be needed to explain why particles have mass and would help
describe how the universe works based on the current theory. Heuer said investigating the
properties of the Higgs Boson and looking for new physics — that is, physics that expand upon
the standard current model — would be the main areas of focus over the next two decades.
Jeffrey Epstein, who plays an active role in supporting cutting edge physics research across the
country and recently held a conference of Nobel laureates to define gravity, offered his full
support for the wits-exeited-brthe-continuation of the experiments at the Large Hadron Collider.
In addition to supporting_physics research, his foundation, The Jeffrey Epstein VI Foundation,
established the Program for Evolutionary Dynamics at Harvard University in 2003 which studies
evolution through the lens of mathematics and biochemistry. He-is-a-philanthropist-with-an

Heuer, speaking in India, said he hopes to see India obtain an associate membership to the
European Organization for Nuclear Research. This would not only bring new opportunities to
Indian scientists but also is fitting because of the contributions of SN Bose, an Indian scientist.
He said physicists are reminded daily by Bose's influence due to the naming of Boson, a family
of particles.

The Large Hadron Collider will continue to run for a few months before it is shut down for
upgrades, which are expected to run into 2014. Heuer said he believes a healthy society is based
on science and the findings of experiments that can help societies emerge from economic crises.

Jeffrey Epstein, Science Financier, supports the
growth of artificial intelligence in digital content
The term artificial intelligence sounds like something out of a science fiction movie, but Al is
being implemented into digital content companies like Google to change the way those
businesses work. Jeffrey Epstein, an established science philanthropist has funded multiple
artificial intelligence endeavors through his Jeffrey Epstein VI Foundation.
Artificial intelligence no longer means a robot that can do your laundry like something out of
The Jetsons. Instead, artificial intelligence runs many of the programs that are taken for granted
on the Internet every day.
An article from
outlines the advancements of artificial intelligence in the
digital content world. Artificial intelligence is what powers turn-by-turn GPS systems, helps
provide relevant items after making a purchase and is the backbone of voice recognition
software.
Ray Kurzweil was recently hired as the new director of engineering for Google. Kurzweil has
said for years that artificial intelligence is the way of the future and his hiring shows Google's
commitment to staying atop the digital content companies.
Peter Voss, the Chief Executive Officer of SmartAction, said artificial intelligence is changing
the business world because it gives machines the ability to create human-level thoughts to
respond to customers in a timely manner.
Artificial intelligence can learn from a user's inputs, such as a workout enthusiast who regularly
updates his or her regimen online. When it comes time for an upper body workout, the artificial
intelligence can find and provide the user with an article on a new technique they may not have
known about.
Jeffrey Epstein is a science and education philanthropist who has supported the growth of
artificial intelligence for more than a decade. in-the-past. Over the past 13 years, the Jeffrey
Epstein VI Foundation has supported and works closely with significant scientists such as
Marvin Minsky, the cofounder of MIT's Artificial Intelligence Laboratory in Massachusetts.
Last year. Minsky headed a conference of eminent scientists on the Foundation's island in the
US Virgin Islands to discuss global threats to the Earth, one of the areas of concern being the
rapidly growing field of intelligent bombs and weapons of mass distruction.
The hope for artificial intelligence research is to morph it into a mind reader of sorts. Instead of a
user needing to search for specific things, artificial intelligence will work off of predetermined
search patterns and relevant keywords to automatically serve up what the user is looking for.

Perfecting artificial intelligence can save a lot of money in the long run. It promotes positive
customer experiences by improving content and the ability to access it, but doesn't require
humans to manage and monitor the situations. In this way, artificial intelligence is both quicker
and cheaper.

Jeffrey Epstein, Science Activist, Concerned by
Idea Notion that Alzheimer's is Sped Up by
Space Radiation
An article on
quotes a neuroscientist from the University of Rochester Medical
Center that believes radiation from space may speed up the onset of Alzheimer's in astronauts.
Jeffrey Epstein, an eminent science philanthropist and an active supporter of The Alzheimer's
Association, with an interest in both space exploration and genetics research was particularly
concerned and intrigued by the find.
As if the thought of sending astronauts into deep space wasn't daunting enough, findings now
suggest that those who take the trip could actually face cognitive consequences later in life.
Kerry O'Banion, a neuroscientist and the author of the study by the University of Rochester
Medical Center, says he sees a link between the radiation from space and an acceleration in the
onset of Alzheimer's, an article on
reports.
This is the first time that radiation levels equivalent to the amounts astronauts would face on a
trip to Mars have shown a negative side effect when cognitive problems are concerned. Space is
full of dangerous radiation that we on Earth are shielded by thanks to the Earth's magnetic core.
As soon as an astronaut enters a low-orbit situation, he or she is constantly hit by this radiation.
The longer and deeper an astronaut's mission into space is, the higher the risk of damage by the
radiation.
This does not bode well for NASA's plans to travel to an asteroid in 12 years and a two-year
round trip to Mars in about 22 years.
The prominent science pPhilanthropist and financier, Jeffrey Epstein, who founded the Program
for Evolutionary Dynamics at Harvard University in 2003, was concerned by the study's findings
and feels that it might offer further clues into the onset of Alzheimer's. "It is possible that there
are several causes to the beginnings of Alzheimer's," Jeffrey Epstein noted. "But the common
link is often a deficiency or breakthrough in the blood brain barrier. Radiation could be one such
cause." The Jeffrey Epstein VI Foundation has been an active supporter of funded-bath-spaee
feseaFeh-rand-neuroscience research around the world and genetic cures for Alzheimer's disease.
To further establish the link between radiation exposure and Alzheimer's Jeffrey Epstein has
reached out to prominent scientists such as Lawrence Krauss, the Foundation Professor of the
School of Earth and Space Exploration.
O'Banion's research is based off a specific radiation known as high-mass, high-charged
radiation. This flies through space at a high rate of speed and, due to its makeup, can punch
through both spaceships and the astronauts inside.
EFTA01105946
Mice were given a dose of radiation similar to what those astronauts would experience in a trip
to Mars. The mice that were exposed to the radiation were far less likely to respond positively to
a series of experiments and also had enflamed blood vessels.
One promising fact of the experiment is the rate the dose of radiation was administered to the
mice. They hit the mice with the entire dose in a few minutes while astronauts would receive the
dose over a few years.

Jeffrey Epstein, Science Philanthropist, Intrigued
il yHopeful Scientists' Disc-over—Explanation
Behind Itchiness
reports researchers at Johns Hopkins have found that mice have a set of nerve
cells specifically to create the itching sensation. Science pPhilanthropist Jeffrey Epstein with a
focus on neuroscience and board member of the Mind, Brain and Behavior Committee at
Harvard University has taken notice and is-heavily-invelved4n-netireseieneeembis intrigued by
the find.
Glowing mice may have started to solve one of the most annoying neurological problems
scientists face today.
Researchers at Johns Hopkins believe they have uncovered the fact that mice have a separate set
of nerves solely to create the itching sensation, an article on
reports.
Both itch and pain are important sensations to the life of an organism, with pain being the more
important of the two since it alerts the organism of impending danger. Itching is close, though,
since it can alert the body of allergic reactions which could potentially be fatal. But persistent
pain or itchiness isn't helpful, and both seem to be intertwined, a researcher at Johns Hopkins
believes.
Jeffrey Epstein, who has a keen interest in cell intelligence and signaling, a-philanthropist-with
an-iinecest-in-neucessienee, is hopeful that the new information about these nerve cells will leads
to a better understanding of- how cells communicate and to what degree they communicate
independently of the brainthe-sensatiens. In addition to funding neuroscience, The Jeffrey
Epstein VI Foundation established the Program for Evolutionary Dynamics at Harvard
University in 2003 and directly supports and works with prominent scientists around the world
including has-preven-ifs-suppest-ef-seienee-by-funding-ficejestsbfrmany high profile scientists,
including-such as Stephen Hawking.
Xinzhong Dong says patients have stopped taking life-saving medication after experiencing the
itchiness that comes as a side effect. Persistent itching is also a side effect of morphine
treatments. It seems that this study with mice may have started to untangle how the two are
related.
Nerves that have both pain and itch-related ends create a controversy between scientists of
whether both sensations are being sent to the brain or just the itch. The current study says nerves
with the itch receptor MrgA3 had stimuli interpreted by the brain as just itch after both itch and
pain responses were sent.
EFTA01105948
The researchers labeled MrgA3 with a glowing protein and plugged tiny monitors into nerve
response cells. The outcome was seeing both pain and itch signals sent to the brain. Then, both
pain and itch-inducing tests were performed to see how the mice responded. Lastly, pain and itch
sensations were put on specific nerves of the mice that only responded to itch. There was no
conclusive evidence, but the Johns Hopkins research team said it's a start in the right direction.
The disentanglement of the nerves means drugs could potentially be designed to just affect one
set or the other. This will hopefully give patients both relief from the sensations and give them
faith in medicine again.
