Dear Prospective Juror:
M. Box 70
St. Thomas, V.I. 00804
You are being considered for jury service in the St. Thomas/St. John Division of the Superior Court of the
Virgin Islands. Trial by jury is the keystone of our system of Justice; and jury service is therefore both an
opportunity and an obligation of every citizen.
This package consists of a questionnaire and a jury summons. The questionnaire is the Court's means of
obtaining some information about you from which we can objectively determine whether or not you are
qualified - pursuant to law - to serve as a juror. It is important for you to understand that the jury selection
process is critical to the trial process; therefore, each question in the three (3) sections of the questionnaire
must be answered truthfully. False or misleading responses to these questions may subject you to criminal
prosecution. Please sign and return the completed questionnaire within (10) days. Failure to return the
form within tell (10) days will result in your mandatory appearance before this Court, in order for the
information to be obtained directly from you. The summons includes the date and time that you must
appear at the Superior Court.
You may submit the questionnaire on-line at Imp://iuror.visuperiorcourt.org OR, you may mail in a
completed paper questionnaire. Do not do both.
If you are unable to fill out this questionnaire, someone else may do it for you. However, that person must
also indicate why it is necessary to do so.
You must report as directed unless you are notified by the Court that your appearance is not
necessary. If you are qualified for jury service, you will be advised of your term of service and applicable
reporting dates. Failure to respond in accordance with the attached summons is punishable by fine and/or
imprisonment under Virgin Islands law. Also, no requests for excuses, exemptions, term changes or other
requests will be considered unless all three (3) sections of the questionnaire are completed.
If you are selected for jury service, you will be compensated as follows: Ten Dollars ($10.00) per day for
each day of service to cover transportation costs if you reside on St. John or Water Island; or Five Dollars
($5.00) per day if you reside on St. Thomas.
Additionally, you will also receive up to Forty Dollars
($40.00) per day for each day you serve as a juror.
Thank you for taking the time to assist in service to your community.
Sincerely,
Marcia A. Julien
Jury Manager
