North-Central NM To Whom It May Concern, As the owner of property located within the boundary of Comanche Gap/El Creston and Pueblo Blanco Archaeological District, nationally significant archaeological sites, I wanted to invite you to attend a public meeting that will be held on Tuesday, October 23 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Galisteo Community Center on Avenida Vieja near the Fire Station in Galisteo. The meeting is intended to provide information about the National Register of Historic Places, a program designed to recognize important places in the nation. Please plan to attend to learn about the benefits of the Register and the upcoming Multiple Property Documentation Form (MPDF), The Greater Galisteo Basin Cultural Landscape, North-Central NM The national register initiative is part of the documentation efforts covered under The Galistco Basin Archaeological Sites Protection Act of 2004 which protects 25 significant archaeological sites in the greater Galisteo Basin from the foothills above Santa Fe to the San Pedro Valley to the south. These sites are irreplaceable cultural resources that represent occupation during times of dynamic transition in the northern Southwest, from precontact through recent times. The MPDF has been prepared by Tamara Jager Stewart, TAMARCH Cultural Resources Management Services, for the New Mexico Historic Preservation Division (HPD) and its partners. The MPDF provides an archaeological and historic context that will allow additional sites to be nominated in the future. Individual nominations for each site named in the Act are also being prepared for consideration of listing to the State Register of Cultural Properties and the National Register of Historic Places. A short presentation will be given by the NM Historic Preservation Division, followed by a question & answer period with HPD staff, project consultants, and representatives of the BLM. To review the MPDF, please visit the HPD website at this link: htto://www.nmhistoricpreservation.org/. If you have questions, about the MPDF or the individual nominations, please contact me at (505) 476-0444 or by e-mail at [email protected], or Jan Biclla, Deputy State Historic Preservation Officer at (505) 827-4045 or via e-mail at [email protected].
