This is a letter of recommendation. I have gotten very well acquainted with a man named Ronald
Rodgers, who has applied for the position of Associate Director of Development at the Council.
I met him through political work -- not my campaign, since, mercifully, I don't have to have those
any more. Mr. Rodgers recently relocated to Washington from an administrative position at the
University of Miami, which, most relevantly, included significant fundraisingg. We have talked at
length on several occasions, and I am extremely impressed with his thoughtfulness, energy,
intelligence and grasp of organizational principles.
Most important for this position, he makes an extremely good impression on people, and clearly
seems to me to have the ability to be persistent without being annoying. He has worked
substantively in international affairs, and has a very good understanding of foreign policy, which is
of course also important for someone who would be representing the Council.
I believe strongly based on my conversations with him that he would be a great asset to the
Council on Foreign Relations and I in fact volunteered to recommend him when I learned from
him that he was in a transitional situation. If you or anyone else has any further questions about
my evaluation of Mr. Rodgers, I would be glad to respond.
