Development Office niversityVirgintlands of the Historically American Uniquely Caribbean. Globally Interactive. June 3, 2011 Mrs. Cecile deJongh Financial Trust Company, Inc. 6100 Red Hook Quarter 8-3 St. Thomas, VI 00802 Dear Mrs. deJongh: I hope this letter finds you in good health and spirits. I am writing today seeking your company's support towards establishing an endowed scholarship at the University of the Virgin Islands. We truly admire the commitment your company has shown in supporting education initiatives throughout the Territory. It is because of this commitment the University is proposing, for your consideration, the establishment of the Financial Trust Company Endowment Scholarship Fund at the University of the Virgin Islands (UVI). I would like to discuss with you the benefits of making a $100,000 commitment to this scholarship endowment which could be made payable to the Foundation for the University of the Virgin Islands (FUVI) over a four year period. This is a substantial contribution we are asking your company to consider but we believe this investment will have a profound impact on the success rates of our most economically challenged students. As someone familiar with the operations of our Foundation, you understand the importance of investing new capital into the endowment, which has proven to be the lifeline of our young institution. There are many worthy charitable organizations in our community and this institution believes the attainment of an advance degree is of paramount importance to many Virgin Islanders. The college experience has not changed much over the years. Our students arrive on campus hoping to find their inner selves, optimistic in their pursuit of a bright future and many of them need a helping hand in achieving both. Your support for the endowment is an investment in the future of these islands and this institution. Your generosity will enable some of our best and brightest students reach their goals. I look forward to an opportunity to meet with you to discuss initiating a four year commitment to establish the Financial Trust Company Endowment Scholarship Fund. I will make contact with you in the coming days to explore your availability. Thank you for your continuing commitment to the University of the Virgin Islands! Sincerely, Mitchell A.
