Maxwell died on Nov. 5 off the Canary Islands in the Atlantic. His
nude body was found in the water hours after he disappeared from his
yacht.
An autopsy report said he probably died of a heart attack. It did
not reach a fmal determination, however, and some insurance
investigators reportedly think the mogul committed suicide.
The Serious Fraud Office has been investigating missing pension
funds of Maxwell's Mirror Group Newspapers PLC, as well as missing funds
from the Mirror Group.
The agency is also looking into a complaint from Swiss Bank Corp.,
which says it did not receive collateral for a $100 million loan to a
small private Maxwell company.
Asked why he didn't report this earlier, Jackson replied: "It didn't
really come to mind until reports came over the weekend that faxes had
gone missing?
