There is more vasculature in the mouth than almost anywhere (rectum too) plus a huge huge mesh of nerve pulp plus nerves plus parasympathetic plus glands and then a huge dedication of neural crest cells to become your teeth (the other lens are adrenals, etc) So there is something important in the teeth and mouth system too.
