Geri — you can shape this your way but this would be the foundation of my message.
That not only do victims have rights every victims perception and needs are different. Access to these individualized
trauma focused services make cooperative victims/ witnesses which is needed to hold the subject(s) accountable. How a
victim is first treated /spoken to is how they account for law enforcement. In today's climate why validate misjudgements
regarding LEO based on your bad day, personal judgements, biases and let the truth and evidence determine the
outcome. What is so wrong with listening, taking their statement and referring them to victim services. You can reference
the Jeffrey Epstein case, Uvalde and Parkland shooting as examples. I worked Epstein and Uvalde if you need more details.
Then say each state has a crime victims comp fund — NY is OVS.
Geri - we have had recent cases that we opened that Suffolk told them and their parents they were liars. So then they
don't want to talk to LEO.

Thank you! It was so great to meet on Tuesday and spend a few precious moments back in the law enforcement world.
This is great. My question to you is if you had 10 minutes with law enforcement leaders what would you want them to
know?

Hey Geri — it was so great seeing you this week. I told Steve and he was jealous. Below is the OVS / crime victims
compensation link and then the piece about death notification training. Let me know if you want to chat so I can go over
how each works. What else would you like me to send to you?
