Case 1:19-cr-00490-RMB Document 48 Filed 08/21/19 Page 1 of 1 UNITED STATES DISTRICT COURT SOUTHERN DISTRICT OF NEW YORK . -X UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, Government. JEFFREY EPSTEIN, Defendant. X I USDC SDNY DOCUMENT ELECTRONICALLY FILED DOC #: DATE FILED: 81-7 I ORDER 19 Cr 490 The Court will conduct a brief hearing on Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. in connection with the nolleprosequi order proposed to the Court on August 19, 2019 by the United States Attorney. The Court believes that where, as here, a defendant has died before any judgment has been entered against him, the public may still have an informational interest in the process by which the prosecutor seeks dismissal of an indictment. At the hearing, Counsel for the Government and for the deceased Defendant, Jeffrey Epstein, will be heard. Counsel for the victims and the victims will also be heard, if they wish to be. The hearing will be held in Courtroom 17B. Dated: New York, New York August 21, 2019 ?Kt-3 RICHARD M. BERMAN, U.S.D.J. SDNY 00015688 EFTA01687983 Re: Returned mail for inmate Epstein From To Date 2019/09/25 09:31 Subject: Re: Returned mail for inmate Epstein Attachments: TEXT.htm The letter looks like it was addressed to Larry Nassar!! He's the former doctor for the U.S. Female Gymnastics Team that was convicted of molesting a bunch of girls (including la under the guise of "medical procedures/examinations." Some of the victim accounts are pretty horrific. I think we open it and see what it says. Depending on the content, I'd then suggest turning it over to either the prosecutors or the team investigating the events around his suicide. (Most likely the prosecutors, but let's see just in case.) It appeared he mailed it out and it was returned back to him. I am not sure if I should open it or should we hand it over to anyone?
