Even after settling in Paris, his family mo=ed around quite frequently. The empty rooms so prominent in his=paintings speak of the nostalgia for leaving behind the walls, but empty rorms also hold the promise of a new life, the excitement and the apprehension=in front of the unknown. Claude Lazar has be=n painting for more than thirty years. He has a great deal of critica= and commercial success exhibiting at the Grand Palais, the Pompidou Center= and the Museum of Modern Art in Paris. In 1976 he was honored to represent=France in the Venice Biennale. Claude Lazar is an artist who sees painting a= leisure rather than work. He will not succumb to the demands of a museum o= a gallery or to the whims of the market. He paints at his own pace e=en if that means twelve or less paintings a year. Franklin Bowles Galleries is proud to have exhibited the works of C=aude Lazar since 1996.
