To: jeevacation©gmaitcompeevacation©gmaitcom] From: Peggy Siegal Sent Sat 1/1/2011 3:49:12 PM Subject Fw: George Lucas Title: Fw: George Lucas Thought this would amuse you. Happy New Year. Got a ride home Sunday afternoon on Peter Brant's plane. When are you back? xoxo Peg — Original Message — From: Weinstein, Harvey To: Peggy Siegal Sent: Sat Jan 01 10:33:47 2011 Subject: Re: George Lucas Good reconnaissance we will make sure Front: Peggy Siegal To: Weinstein, Harvey Sent: Sat Jan 01 09:49:26 2011 Subject: George Lucas Sal with him at dinner last night. As you know, he is not a member of the academy. (He was, briefly for two years, many years ago.). He hates the academy for their disrespect for the Special Effects Branch. lie also said he never would allow prints of his films to be lent to the Beverly Hills screening circuit so privileged industry people could sit in a private room and talk during his films. lie also feels winning an Oscar does not necessarily reflect the best film, but how much money was spent. Ile then told me that 'SN" will win this year because it's a good film and has the right combination of talented filmmakers and box office. I then asked him what he thought of TICS. He says he has not seen it. I say, "How can you say which is the best film of the year and which will win if you haven't seen all the films? He said, "He heard TICS was a good film." He said he does have a dvd screening room in his home, but he pays and sees everything in the theaters. This conversation was as heartbreaking as having Paul Schrader telling me TICS is the best film in the past five years and has no intention of seeing "I1CS. I know you will say Lucas does not matter because he has no vote, but if you see him can you encourage him to see TICS. Can you have a dvd delivered to his boat with a nice note? I assume he does talk to people in the industry. He is not coming to Jean Pigozzi's lunch because he has too many family/friends on his own boat which is next to Johnny's. George has seen 127 Hours, The Fighter and I think Black Swan because I opened the conversation about Natalie Portman. What started out as an exciting conversation with George Lucas, ended up being a total disappointment. xoxo Peg EFTA_R1_00210907 EFTA01832862
