I' m 80 years old and grew up never knowing that candy was bad and floss was good. Now I' ye gotten a treatment plan from my dentist that' s really scary and depressing. Plus it will cost $10,000. So I' m sending this to 100 friends, asking each one for $100 - but only if you can easily afford it without any misgivings -- since Medicare doesn' t cover dental procedures. For decades, I' ve been writing every month for two magazines, but last year, during the same week, they both dropped my column with sincere regrets yet high praise of my EFTA_R1_00347572 EFTA01911176 work, which left me with only Social Security as income. So I had to return to the world of free-lancing. The market is brutal, but I' ve been fortunate to sell an article on the 10th anniversary of Ken Kesel,' s death for The Nation, a dialogue with right-wing propagandist Andrew Breitbart (his last interview) for Playboy, and a speaking gig at Claremont- McKenna College. I have 3 other projects in very slow process: 50 Years of Investigative Satire; a novel about a contemporary Lenny Bruce- type performer; and my archives (all the crap in my garage) for the University of Massachusetts.
