To: Cecile de Jongh From: Jeffrey E. Sent: Fri 5/9/2014 7:51:44 PM Subject: Re: STEM Fair yes On Fri, May 9, 2014 at 3:46 PM, Cecile de Jongh wrote: Good afternoon Jeffrey, I met with the two representatives from the Department of Education re the STEM Fair that is to take place at UVI in two weeks time. We originally agree to send the winners of the Fair to the US Science Fair in DC and we allocated $10K of the $86K for this purpose. I think the winning students will get more out of a trip if they were to attend a two week-long summer program. The STEM Coordinator for DOE has identified some summer programs that focus on each of the four pillars of STEM. However, it will obviously cost more to send the three winning students to a summer program. Would you approve an additional $10K for this purpose to cover the cost of the camp and airfare for the three winning students?
