To this end I attach a few of our papers. Amador 2013 is the recent major result I mentioned in our conversation. In arriving at that result we used sleeping birds, but only for a technical advantage. Attached are four other papers that describe some of our sleep and learning results in birds. The Dave 2000 paper describes song replay ("birds dreaming of singing"); Shank 2009 demonstrates how physiology in the brain is shaped by early vocal learning, and Rauske 2010 shows how the activity patterns of neurons are sculpted on a nightly basis by sleep. Brawn 2013 presents a different model system (sleep and auditory perception, not sleep and vocal production), showing how different memories interfere with each other in a sleep-dependent fashion during initial memory acquisition. Finally, I also attach one more sleep perceptual learning study (Fenn 2003): in humans, on speech, work done in collaboration with Howard. I am grateful for the help you arc extending to me.
