EFTA_R1_00446986 EFTA01967693 The IIE-SRF Iraq team (Nada, Celeste, Janet, Jessica, andM) have done yet another astounding job organizing this major event. Other IIE Divisions are involved as well. Nada provided this update: • The conference was officially opened by the U.S. Counsel General in Erbil Paul Sutphin • The CG and the KRG-MOHE Minister Dr. Ali Saeed both provided opening remarks at the conference in which they emphasized the importance of these academic gatherings in promoting educational exchanges and mutual understanding between the American and the Iraqi people • Over 160 Iraqi scholars and university-reps are in attendance at the conference including: 100 SRF scholars, and 62 university-reps from Iraq prime and the KRG • SRF scholars traveled from 12 countries as well as from different cities in Iraq to attend the conference • 32 Iraqi universities are participating in this conference including the following universities from Iraq prime: o From Baghdad: • The University of Al-Mustansiriyah-- the VP for Scientific Affairs is attending the conference • Baghdad Private College of Pharmacy--Dean of the College is attending the conference o From Babylon: • The University of Babylon--Dean of College of Education is attending the conference • Future Private University--Dean is attending the conference is attending the conference o From the South; • The University of Thi Qar--the President of the University is attending the conference • The University of Missan--the Dean of Students Affairs is attending the conference • The University of Basrah-- the VP for Scientific Affairs is attending the conference o From the North.
