They generously offer to help re your son. They would like that your son first sees Bob Goldberg at UCLA and based on that they will decide re next steps. Joe can you provide a contact of your son in LA so that they can arrange he sees Dr. Bob Goldberg? We could have him see Bob Goldberg who is chief of the service at Jules Stein locally in LA and whom I and Steve know well. Alternatively I can arrange for him to be seen up here at Stanford by members of our corneal and ocluo-plastics team if he is wiling to travel up to the Bay Area. EFTA_R1_00458357 EFTA01973869 Please let me look at my calendar, I am traveling a lot for next 3-4 weeks. We will find some time in June for sure. In mean time— can I please ask you for a big favor. Joseph Pagano is a son of my friend Joe Pagano. Joseph is going to school in LA. He has some very severe case of blepharitis that has been going on for few years. It is getting more and more serious — to the point that his school performance is impaired. I am attaching you some notes from his specialist in LA. Nevertheless, I do not think that he ever had a more detailed work out. Do you know anyone that can see him? Steven? Or he can come to Stanford? Please let me know So sorry to bother you but Joe is my good friend and he and his son are getting desperate. I don't want to make it rushed and difficult for you. I am definitely game to come up next month when the timing is right and spend some unhurried time with you. I am very interested to see both the Gates Foundation and Intellectual Ventures, both of which are fascinating to me. Let me know some times that might work for you towards the end of the month or beginning of June following Memorial Day. My schedule gets dramatically better then. Mondays and Thursdays both tend to be quite open since I do not have patients those days. best Mark Mark S. Blumenkranz MD HJ Smead Professor and Chairman Department of Ophthalmology Director. So sorry for a small delay in my reply — have been traveling since we met. Last few days were packed with meetings — these meetings along with a small screen size always put me behind in email reply. There might be a problem with scheduling. This week is my super busy week. Tomorrow, Tuesday and Thursday I will be attending board meetings for the most of day. Wednesday I am having a full morning, followed by a short trip to LA. Friday I blocked afternoon/evening for meeting you and Steve. Is it possible later in a day? Anytime? I am leaving on Saturday morning for NYC so Sunday (or week after) will not work for me. I wanted to let you know that a few items have come up that impact on the timing of my visit to Seattle. I am the featured speaker at the luncheon during the ARVO forum on Friday May3d at noon where I will be speaking on Innovation from Academia, Crossing the Other Chasm. Later in the afternoon I am on a panel at 3 PM and so I think that timing will make it difficult for me to come to the Gates Foundation that day. Is there a chance that we could do this either Thursday the 2d , or Monday or Tuesday instead. I have to fly out on Friday afternoon for a memorial service Friday evening and will be back on Sunday morning. I do hope we have the chance to get together. In the meantime let me know if you would like to come to the luncheon or any of the meetings on Friday and I can arrange it. They deal with the interface between vision research and industry.
