MENTOR mary erdoes will be mentoring me every month by phone and then maybe once a quarter or biannually in person. when i met her at davos she says she knows you and also eva (i was with boris and she told both of us). she has not mentioned you again, nor have i said anything about you. "good female role model" for me - probably good for my professional development and if i let the foundation pick a mentor for me ("coach") i am not sure i would relate well to them. 2. BOARD i have mapped out a plan for my board participation and what i want from certain organizations (at this point, mostly leaming to be on boards) as a five year plan. the AMA foundation doesn't know i work at the BMG foundation, they contacted me through the medical center. it is purely a female subspecialty advocate plus all my publications/work related to end of life that have them interested. my interview is friday and my chairman is strongly encouraging me to at least try it. dunno if i will accept or not but good practice to interview. i tumed down an offer from the governor here to sit on a health board. no thanks! 3. COOL SCIENCE the work i had been doing with the proximal port of VP shunt is pretty neat. me and my buddies are going to apply for a small institutional grant at the UW to support further development BUT it made me realize that the answer to some of the vagus nerve stuff might be found in patients with vagal nerve stimulators - or even animals into whom we can insert vagal nerve stimulators. if we can reverse atrial fibrillation using electricity into the vagus nerve then we fix the problem and prove the theory all at once. so we are working towards how to do that. i had wanted to talk to you about some of the technical stuff but i keep having really bad timing! hopefully very soon. 4.
