Eastern Daylight Time, jeevacation@gmailcom writes: just do it .1 On Tue, Oct 23. 2012 at 7:06 PM, wrote: Jeffrey,. -rear seat mod to Cadillac,. we must purchase two front seats, GM will not sell separate according to Michael at Auto Design. Michael from Auto Design group, sent the emails below, he informed me the new front seat we where going to install does not match the remaining rear seat that is stationary. The front and rear seats have different design's according to Michael. GM is firm on selling seats as pair. We did receive a discount if we purchase the second seat and install in the Caddy, both seats will be modified to work electrically and provide more leg room for each. Do you wish to install both new seats? original seat price for one was quoted at $1,900 and the second seat will be provided at dealer cost of $1,450.00, plus labor to install is $2,000 additional, plus $375 parts. (I will confirm front seats have different design, than rear seats). options: #1 Continue with original install and Purchase the additional seat for $1,450.00 and not install (rear seats will not match). #2 Purchase the additional seat and install so it matches the rear seat, additional $2,000 labor, plus $375 seat controller, seat cost is $1,450.00 please advise direction, whether to proceed with this mod,. see Michael's emails below, explaining his problem. Larry We have to make another seat controller to make all functions work on the seat price $375.00 ,additional carpet maybe needed, I can get away with what I have already ordered if not $100.00 extra, we will use the armrest from the original second seat $0 so basically just the additional labor costs .There will be some overlapping labor so maybe we can get away with another 16 hours to build the seat controller ,add the armrest weld the new mounting system and finally install and wire the seats, app. $2000.00 for Labor for second seat install. Thanks, Michael Larry, EFTA_R1_00501424 EFTA02003340 After placing the initial order for the seat upgrade on Mr. Epstein's vehicle I was told of the timeframe for the building of the seat which we all agreed upon. I have just received a call from my dealer contact telling me that the seat had arrived to their facility but with a glitch, they sent two seats not just the one that was ordered. When my contact questioned the extra seat he was told that GM only sells the seats in pairs and will not break up the set. I have gone back and forth numerous times with my contact and he has done the same with GM directly but they are adamant in selling them as a pair. After this incident I was actually thinking that if we did put only one seat as originally planned it might look out of place as the drivers rear seat would be different from the other three. If you discuss this with Mr. Epstein explain to him that the look would be better with both seats changed and it would keep the aesthetics of the interior keeping on par with the quality of a Cadillac. I have also been able to get the dealer to sell me the second seat at a substantial discount if we were to do this upgrade app. $1450.00 which I would sell to you for the same cost. Obviously there would be more labor involved as the install would take more time to facilitate. Our only other option would be to see if I can get one seat from a salvage yard or e bay but obviously these would be used seats and would most likely need to be recovered in the leather of the interior.
