To: jeeyac i n mil m ' v tion©gmail.com]; Jeffrey Epstein[[email protected]]; Cecile de Jongh[ From: Jeffrey Epstein Sent: Wed 8/29/2012 4:52:46 PM Subject: Fwd: inquiry Hi Jeffrey and Cecile, This is interesting. See below. On Tue, Aug 28, 2012 at 10:16 AM, Dan Parisi wrote: Dear Mr. Epstein-- My name is Dan Parisi, and I am senior associate director of foundation relations for the Alzheimer's Association. I read with great interest about your support for cutting edge science around the world. I would like to inquire respectfully as to whether you would be interested in supporting any of the neuroscience projects being advanced by the Alzheimer's Association. In particular I believe that you may be interested in the Global Alzheimer's Association Interactive Network (GAAIN), a project in which the Association and its partners are seeking to transform how huge quantities of digital neuroscience data are shared and accessed worldwide. For the first time, any scientist working to discover a cure for Alzheimer's will be able to access via the Internet a federated, cloud-based grid- network of large and complex neuroscience data—including high-resolution, time- varying, multidimensional data sets of the brain—made available by the world's foremost researchers from their own laboratories. The Alzheimer's Association has launched GAAIN only recently in partnership with the Laboratory of Neuro Imaging (LONI) at UCLA, the National Center for Alzheimer's Disease Research and Care at the Istituto di Ricovero e Cura a Carattere Scientifico (IRCCS), Fatebenefratelli Hospital, Italy, and Intel Corporation. As you likely know, no comparable network exists today. GAAIN holds tremendous potential not only for the advancement of Alzheimer's science but the advancement of all neuroscience. Its start-up costs are approximately $10 million over five years. May I ask you please to let me know if you are interested in learning more about GAAIN or other projects at the Alzheimer's Association? I would be glad to speak with you or to send you a detailed description via email. Thank you for your consideration and for all of your philanthropic work.
