To: jeevacationeggmail.com[jeevacation©gmail.com]; [email protected]@gmail.com] From: Terje Rod-Larsen Sent Wed 4/10/2013 10:06:10 PM Subject: Fw: police not polio workers targeted From: Nasra Hassan < To: Terje Rod-Larsen Cc: Walter Kemp; Andrea Pfanzelter; Mark Shaw Sent: Wed Apr 10 10:06:01 2013 Subject: police not polio workers targeted FYI: This is a classic example of how easy it is to conflate issues -- eg. today to april a policeman guarding polio workers was shot dead -- the media are reporting it as an attack on the polio workers -- but rdetailed esearch into similar events reveals that the targets are the police, not the polio health workers per se. There is an important political tussle between 3 political parties in the 3 towns where health & social workers have been targetted. "...One policeman was killed another wounded Wednesday to April while protecting a polio vaccination team in Mardan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The incident took place in Par-Hoti area of Mardan where two armed motorcyclists opened fire over a polio vaccination team. The police men were escorting a three member polio team -consisting two women and a man- when they were attacked. "One of the policeman embraced martyrdom and the second sustained injuries while the polio team remained unhurt", said District Police Officer (DPO) Tahir Ayoub...." EFTA_R1_00525470 EFTA02020376
