Category 5 Super Typhoon Nepartak prompts Typhoon warning in Taiwan and heavy rain threat in Eastern China. This storm poses a serious threat to Tawain, Japan's Ryuku Islands, and eastern China. Tawain is bracing for the arrival of Super Typhoon Nepartak, which could slam into the island nation late Thursday or early Friday Tawain time, according to the Joint Typhoon Warning Center. Ferocious winds, drenching rain and battering waves are all likely as the storm makes landfall. Nepartak has sustained winds of 175 mph and gusts up to 207 mph. Travel disruption is expected; Cathay Pacific, Dragon air, Eva Air, China Airlines, Hong Kong Airlines, and Cathay Pacific have all canceled flights in, out or connecting thru Taipei in advance of the storm.
