I have bought a used car from a crooked dealer. It turns out that the car has a defective transmission, but is covered under Massachusetts used car warranty law. The dealer refuses to pay for the repairs, and instead offers to buy back the car, but we do not get anything from him in writing. He is currently incommunicado, and it is probably best if we communicate using someone who is more proficient than us. (I will send him the usual letters with certified mail to his probable address, but I find it very distressing to interact with malicious folks, and might make mistakes.)
