To: From: Jennifer Dalling Sent Tue 9/3/2013 6:37:32 PM Subject: RE_kitchen countertops Hi, I'm sure you are aware of the way Cararra marble wears in a kitchen. Over time it will age, scratch, patina, wear, etc. but some are ok with that. Going with a man made quartz composite that is resistant to heat, scratches, staining, etc. would alleviate the concern on the island since this is a main focal area in the kitchen that most people like to congregate around :) We deal with Penthal and Caesarstone which can be mitered and edges laminated to give it a 2" appearance. If you go with a nice grey I think that would accent the Carrara very nicely. I will give you a list of places to view carrara slabs because its hard for me to price anything until we find a lot you like because the pricing is all over the place these days and slab sizes vary. To narrow your search you can look at their websites and if you find something that interests you then you can take the ride to see them in person. Most would like you to make an appointment but it is not necessary. Unfortunately, we do not deal with wood countertops so I can't help you with that :( Please let me know if you have any questions. Hopefully this answers some questions and helps put you in the right direction. It's a lot to write so again call if you would like to go over. Hope you had a great holiday weekend. So kitchen counter tops... Basically what I am thinking: -Perimeter of kitchen, butlers pantry and "pass thru" island on the kitchen side to be Carrera marble standard thickness -Island to be a man made stone in a white completing color to the Carrera. I don't k ow what brand y'all carry (silestone? Pental Quartz? ). I know there is a EFTA_R1_00772185 EFTA02129823 lot out there. I want the island to be thicker with a mitered edge. What do y'all carry? FYI-I'd really like the island to be the Carrera Marble also but I worry about its durability and practicality. What are your thoughts? -I want the "pass thru" counter on the side facing the family room to be a thick piece of stained wood in Wenge color. Can you have the wood countertops made? I'm not positive the plans show the Pass Thru counter very well. Basically I want the side that is inside the kitchen to be a standard height countertop to prep on. The other side of the counter is to be bar height to eat at. I'll put some bar height chairs there. Not sure I've explained everything very well, but this can get you answering some questions I think! Call me later today after you investigate some and we can chat.
