Court Filing

Also known as: Marc Rich, Marcell David Reich

According to DOJ-released documents indexed by Epstein Exposed, Marc Rich appears in 94 case documents, and 2 email records in the Epstein files.

Marc Rich was an international commodities trader who founded Glencore. He was indicted in 1983 on charges of tax evasion and illegal trading with Iran during the hostage crisis, then controversially pardoned by President Bill Clinton on his last day in office in January 2001. Rich died in 2013 in Lucerne, Switzerland. The EFTA archive reveals that Epstein actively pursued the purchase of Rich's Swiss property. Former NBA commissioner David Stern emailed Epstein about Rich's "Villa Rose" in Meggen, Switzerland, noting it could be "purchased discreetly."

Rich's daughter later told associates he was willing to sell his two Swiss houses. Epstein never completed the purchase; the property was sold to a Canadian art collector in 2014. Beyond the property connection, a deeper financial link exists: Epstein's offshore vehicle Liquid Funding shared the same attorney and corporate director at Appleby, the offshore law firm, as several Glencore entities. Felix Posen, who ran Rich's London operations, appears in Epstein's contact book. The Rich pardon itself created a bridge between Epstein's world and the Clinton orbit: Clinton flew on Epstein's plane and Epstein donated to the Clinton Foundation.

Rich appears in approximately 93 documents in the Epstein archive.
