Umar Dzhabrailov was a Chechen businessman, former Russian Federal Council senator, and owner of Moscow's Radisson Slavyanskaya Hotel. He died on March 2, 2026, from a gunshot wound to the head at his Moscow apartment. Russian authorities ruled it a suicide.
His daughter disputes the finding. Emails in the EFTA releases confirm Dzhabrailov arranged a 2001 Moscow visit for Ghislaine Maxwell and Jeffrey Epstein. Maxwell called him her "soulmate" in correspondence. The emails confirm Epstein, Maxwell, and a third party named "Tom" traveled to Moscow together. Dzhabrailov had previously been a candidate for President of Chechnya and was connected to Moscow's business and political establishment.
His death came just weeks after his name appeared in the released Epstein files, making him one of several Epstein-linked individuals to die under disputed circumstances following the January 2026 document release. The death was reported by Newsweek, The Daily Beast, and the Russian outlet Meduza.
