Vitaly Churkin
Russia's Ambassador to the United Nations (2006-2017) who met with Epstein multiple times and asked for help placing his son at a wealth management firm.
Also known as: Vitaly Ivanovich Churkin
Vitaly Churkin served as Russia's Permanent Representative to the United Nations from 2006 until his death on February 20, 2017, one day before his 65th birthday. He died of a heart attack at his office in New York. According to Meduza's February 2026 reporting on the Epstein files, Churkin met Epstein multiple times in 2016 and 2017 and asked Epstein to help his son Maxim Churkin obtain a position at a wealth management firm. In August 2016, Epstein invited Churkin to lunch alongside Ehud Barak and Tom Barrack, the American real estate investor who later served as U.S. Ambassador to Turkey. The lunch brought together Russia's top UN diplomat, a former Israeli prime minister, and an American businessman with close ties to the Trump administration.
Churkin's engagement with Epstein occurred while he served as one of Russia's most visible diplomatic figures, vetoing multiple UN Security Council resolutions on Syria and Ukraine during his tenure.
