It is doubtful she will be able to get an appointment on Wednesday or Thursday as the wait time for work visa appointments is about 7 working days. However, appointments do open up if there are cancellations, and the call center can help tell her if there are available appointments next week. I assume she has an approved petition for whichever type of work visa she will be applying for. We usually do return visaed passports by mail, but if asked, will allow the applicant to pick up personally in case of imminent travel. The visa is usually ready for pickup in 1-3 days." She has been approved for the work visa, but just needs to have it put into her passport at the US Embassy.
