On August 21, 2012, Jeanne and Daphne spoke with Melvin Flores who showed up at FTC's office accompanied by Angel Feliciano (another former employee of LSJ) who interpreted for Melvin. Angel's English was not that strong either. Melvin does not have a phone. Angel's phone is 340-344-0839. He understands more English than he can speak. According to Melvin: The rock crusher was broken on the island (Little Saint James). The rock crusher was repaired three times by the LSJ mechanics. When it broke again, Arran and Brice said forget it, not good, not working. Per Melvin, several months went by (6 or 7 months) before Manuel purchased the rock crusher; it was sitting in the dirt. Manuel asked Irvin if he could fix it and he said yes. Manuel promised Irvin $10,000 when he sold it for big money. Manuel never came through with the money. A private flatbed picked it up from the island and transported it to Manuel's house on St. Thomas. Melvin was on vacation at the time. Manuel and Irvin worked on it at Manuel's house on St. Thomas. Melvin said he did not know anything about the boat purchased. He said he did not know anything about how much the boat was. He said he had no idea how Manuel would get that kind of money to purchase a boat. Angel said he knew Manuel has a second job. Manuel never gave Melvin's brother, Irvin, the money. Irvin is not on island now he is in Puerto Rico. Melvin received three unemployment checks before the letter denying further unemployment. Today (August 21, 2012) he received the letter indicating that he would have to pay back the monies from the three unemployment checks he received, and that an additional hearing is scheduled for September 6. Melvin wants to continue receiving his unemployment. His wife is having a baby and he needs the money. Angel Feliciano witnessed a confrontation between Manuel Gonzalez and Irvin Flores, Melvin was not present. Per Angel, Irvin and Manuel do not speak any more. According to Angel in his broken English: Irvin upon being fired said "If the Company says I need to go to court I will tell Mr. Epstein." and "Manuel, you need to pay me my $10,000 for fixing the rock crusher." Again according to Angel Feliciano, Manuel said in response, "Forget it. I sell it for $5,000." Melvin was given a copy of the Company Policy stating that nothing is to be removed from the LSJ dumpster. Melvin says he went straight to the Bovoni landfill with the garbage at all times.
