For far too long, I just ignored it, and went on, but it became a firestorm that went out of control. Rumors always spread in confidence... Finally, I had enough, when he was sending letters to all my colleagues at Caltech, Harvard, MIT, etc., etc. My attorneys stated that it was the "worst and most pernicious" libel and slander suit they have ever seen...and they handle big suits. People who received such material would just repeat it whenever my name came up, and so it was a rapidly spreading virus. I am sure you know how it is... And, some of us, who march to our own independent drum beat, and who are successful, have to put up with this stuff, where people are constantly trying to get us to be in the barrel as opposed to themselves.... I had to counter all the charges, we went through rigorous discovery, I had sworn testimonies from colleagues, documents produced, etc., etc. It was a long and painful process. I won the lawsuit, substantial monetary damages, but obviously, some of this crap is still floating out there..., because after I won, I just went on... FYI, I am enclosing his retraction, etc. my last Caltech ID, and in Feynman's own hand that he was not only my friend, but "devoted teacher. Blah, blah, blah... Onwards to better and more constructive things rather than dwelling on the statements of people who are totally ignorant of what they are writing about... My work speaks for itself, both my many published books, as well as my talks that I give at universities all over the world. I would love to work with you on science related activities....
