In December 2014, Virginia Giuffre named Dershowitz in a court filing, alleging she was directed by Epstein and Maxwell to have sexual encounters with him. ' He filed defamation countersuits against Giuffre, and the two engaged in protracted legal battles. Giuffre later recanted her specific allegations against Dershowitz in 2024. In January 2015, Epstein emailed media contacts to dispute Giuffre's claims, referencing allegations involving both Clinton and Dershowitz. Named extensively throughout the Giuffre v.
Maxwell civil case documents unsealed in January 2024. Publicly defended Epstein's 2008 plea deal as appropriate but later sought to distance himself from Epstein.
