Ghislaine Maxwell
Convicted sex trafficker; Epstein's closest associate and primary recruiter; serving 20 years
Also known as: G-Max
Born December 25, 1961, in Maisons-Laffitte, France, the youngest of nine children of media baron Robert Maxwell. After her father's mysterious death at sea in November 1991, she relocated to New York City, becoming Jeffrey Epstein's romantic partner and closest operational associate. Pilot Larry Visoski testified at trial that Maxwell was Epstein's 'Number 2' — managing his households, properties, and travel logistics across the New York townhouse, Palm Beach estate, Zorro Ranch, and Little St. James island. Multiple victims identified Maxwell as the primary recruiter and groomer, approaching young women at schools and spas, normalizing sexual contact, and directing them to Epstein.
She appeared on approximately 80% of all documented Epstein flights, making her the most frequent co-passenger. ' Convicted December 29, 2021, on five of six federal counts including sex trafficking of a minor. Sentenced June 28, 2022, to 20 years in federal prison. In July 2025, DOJ Deputy AG Todd Blanche interviewed Maxwell at FCI Tallahassee; she claimed to be 'very central' to the Clinton Global Initiative startup, stated Clinton never visited Epstein's island, and described first meeting Elon Musk at a Sergey Brin birthday party. Transferred to FPC Bryan, Texas in August 2025.
On February 9, 2026, invoked the Fifth Amendment in a House Oversight Committee deposition, with her lawyer stating she would testify fully if granted presidential clemency.

The case generated thousands of pages of discovery material that would later be unsealed.

Federal grand jury indictment charging Ghislaine Maxwell with six counts including conspiracy to entice minors to travel to engage in illegal sex acts, enticement of a minor to travel to engage in illegal sex acts, conspiracy to transport minors with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity, transportation of a minor with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity, and two counts of perjury related to her 2016 deposition testimony.
USA v. Maxwell - Superseding Indictment
The superseding indictment added a sex trafficking conspiracy charge and a sex trafficking of a minor charge, alleging Maxwell groomed a fourth victim, aged 14, between 2001 and 2004 at Epstein's Palm Beach residence. The new charges expanded the time frame of the alleged conduct. The perjury counts were severed for a separate trial.
